Description: During my senior year at Northwestern, I helped research, design, and manufacture a portable MRI device for my mechanical engineering senior capstone.
Course: MECH_ENG 398-1, -2: Engineering Design
Team: "MRI Guys" :
My Role: My primary role during this project was a position named Multimedia Design Manager. According to the team charter, my role "Manages the visual media by which the project is communicated to classmates, instructors, and stakeholders. Including but not limited to: videos, photos, presentations, graphics, flowcharts, visual aids, and other forms of media". My impact was not limited to these responsibilities, however. Elaborated below are my contributions to the portable MRI senior capstone project.
At the conclusion of winter quarter, The MRI Guys were asked by our clients, Axess Dr, to produce a marketing video summarizing our work over the past quarter
In the sub-basement of the Northwestern Ford Motor Company Engineering Design Center, I filmed my teammate, Dash Gabryszewski, as he talked us through the design features of the portable MRI prototype
I and my teammates filmed Dash from various angles, collecting segments to be used for this marketing video
I compiled these clips into Microsoft Clipchamp and edited them into a minute-long video
We shared the video with our clients which was subsequently used to communicate progress to their stakeholders
Towards the end of spring quarter, the MRI device was nearing the manufacturing stage of our final portable MRI prototype
The portable MRI device required an outer shell housing to protect the inner components and improve the aesthetics of our design
I designed an outer shell housing in SolidWorks to be used to encapsulate our MRI device
My outer shell housing CAD was used for rendering purposes and was not 3D-printed due to budgetary constraints within our project
